Welcome Home Heroes Parade

We marched in Richmond’s Welcome Home Heroes Parade this morning with a few other Red Cross Volunteers and had a fantastic time. What a great turnout of people lining the Boulevard all the way down to Dogwood Dell!

I’m very proud of both Ayn and Teagan, who represented the Red Cross well today by maintaining a positive attitude and graciously accepting the gratitude that was given to us by so many people as we walked by. The girls may not know or understand everything that the Red Cross stands for but they certainly heard how much people appreciate our efforts.

I also want to thank the both the American Legion (who were in front of us) and the Patriot Guard Riders who were behind us in the parade. Both groups were outgoing, friendly, and made for great companions on our march down the Boulevard. We also had the pleasure of walking with the Canine Companions for Independence service dogs, whom I haven’t seen since my days as the Gentle Leader Product Manager at Premier Pet Products.
